Now, I’m talking about quality instruments... not the inexpensive “toys” that have discouraged so many people because they just wouldn’t .nd much of anything. And that’s what will be discussed in this booklet...quality metal detectors that are, in truth, scientific instruments. Let me just say that I’ve been using my own high quality detectors to find all sorts of things for more than 40 years, and I’m still amazed at the ease with which our newer models can be operated. Automatic One Touch detectors are so simple that it’s sometimes uncanny.

I am confident that my detectors are the best. That’s not to say that some other manufacturers don’t make quality detectors. They do. But, I don’t believe that any of their instruments will match up to a Garrett detector in the same price range. At the same time, unfortunately, there are other detectors on the market (at generally lower prices) that simply can’t offer the quality necessary for you to maximize your treasure hunting abilities.

Second, and equally important, is your desire to find treasure. You must enjoy being out in the fresh air searching over all kinds of terrain. You must understand and tolerate the aches and pains that come with stooping and squatting as you use a detector to find treasure. You must expect to get your hands dirty when you dig up those treasures. Finally, you must enjoy hunting with a detector out in the field even when you’re not finding treasure.
